Countertop Questions, Answered

How much do new countertops cost in Chicago?

Most Chicago-area kitchen countertop projects fall between $40 and $120 per square foot installed, depending on the material and edge profile. Entry granite and builder-grade quartz sit at the lower end; premium quartzite, marble, and designer quartz lines sit at the top. Royal Countertops provides free in-home estimates with exact pricing for your layout.

Which is better: quartz or granite countertops?

Quartz is non-porous, never needs sealing, and offers very consistent colors, which makes it the easiest surface to live with. Granite is 100% natural stone, handles hot pans better, and every slab is one of a kind. For busy kitchens we usually recommend quartz; for outdoor kitchens and heat-heavy cooking, granite or quartzite.

How long does countertop installation take?

After templating, most countertops are fabricated and installed within 3 to 7 business days. The installation visit itself usually takes 2 to 4 hours for a typical kitchen.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes — Royal Countertops offers free in-home estimates across the greater Chicago area. Call (312) 555-0100 or use the free estimate form and we'll measure your space and quote your exact project.

Do quartz countertops need to be sealed?

No. Quartz is engineered to be non-porous, so it never needs sealing. Natural stones like granite, marble, and quartzite should be resealed periodically — typically once a year — and we seal every natural-stone installation before we leave.

Can you replace countertops without replacing cabinets?

Yes. Countertop replacement on existing cabinets is our most common project. We template around your current layout, remove the old tops, and install the new stone — usually in a single day.
